The reason to buy salon software first is because salon software will have pos hardware and operating requirements. For example, most salon software will require a certain version of Windows, Unix or Dos. Additionally each salon software program may only function with certain types of printers, bar code scanners, p.c. cameras, cash drawers and credit card readers.

Data Conversion
Converting Existing Data
If you are switching to Style from another program or if you have been storing your client data in some other format, we may be able to convert that data for use in Insight. The cost to convert data does vary, but we will happily analyse any information you currently have and give you a quote before proceeding. Depending on the number of clients you have, the cost will only be pennies per client and will save you hours of re-entering data. Please contact a sales rep for more information and to receive a quote for converting your data.
A few of our customers ask if we can instruct them on how to do their own data conversion. The simple answer is no. Converting data from one system to another can be a simple process but it can also be very complex. Insight keeps your data very secure and consistent and will not work with invalid information. Many of our competitors allow users to type any text in any field which can result in things like phone numbers that contain letters. There are also complex factors involving the inner workings of our data files that must be taken into account during the conversion process. For example, you may have more than one "Bob Smith" in your client database and Insight needs to be able to differentiate between them as well. During the conversion process, our developers take all of this into account so that your new information is guaranteed to work as Insight was designed. In the few cases where clients went ahead (without our permission) and converted their own data, the results were extremely bad. The bottom line is that we simply cannot support our software without being 100% positive that the data files conform to the Insight standards.
